Last year's real-time strategy game was a very tough act to follow on any number of levels, and yet Blizzard has delivered a terrific, full-featured expansion for Warcraft III that makes an already outstanding game significantly more so.

Given Blizzard's track record with expansion packs, it's understandable that fans of the company's games would have very high expectations for Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne. Its follow-up releases for 1998's Starcraft and 2000's Diablo II were so effective and so good that many, many people are still playing both of those games today, all these years later. Blizzard Entertainment knows the drill when it comes to delivering these sorts of products. After all, truly great expansion packs don't just add new content-they add real depth, and fundamentally make the core game better. With an unlimited amount of strategies and tactics it really is a great game for your mind.The sign of a truly great expansion pack is when, having played it, you realize you could never go back to the original game. The game is so nuanced and there are so many areas to improve on and think about strategically. This is in many ways why I love Warcraft 3 so much. And not having enough ranged power can be another issue when you do decide to face them. When you lose the large dragon creeps on the west and east side of the map to the enemy team you are almost guaranteed a lose. With a low number of weaker creeps it forces the player to really push the early creeping. Hills of Glory in itself is a difficult map.

Rock Golems always stun so one unit will be out of combat due to stuns whenever you fight them.

Having more than five peons on the goldmine.

Failing to pay attention to the lumber bottleneck, with more peons on the job.

Time was wasted between the completion of the Altar of Storms and the summoning of the Blademaster.

Not using hotkeys made me handicapped and slow in many areas.

Economical choice of early upgrades based on needs.

Good micro management of units to distribute aggro and damage.

Aggressive creeping and the correct choice of hero for the strategy.

Base layout was on point and very defensive, something I’ve been working on.

Build order was correct, even though it could have been much more efficient.

This was a warm-up after a few weeks away from the game. As it turns out, a Warcraft 3 Orc match is no different. So having the ability to look at our failures allows us to improve on what we do today. Someone old and wise, once said “we learn more from failing”.
